Project Context
This project aims to explore different usability issues with the Budget Movers, Inc. Budget Movers is a Moving service company that services Maryland and surrounding areas. The scope of this project is to improve the user experience of scheduling the Move. Through this goal, the user will have a hassle free, transparent, and time saving Moving experience.
Problem
I started my process by Analyzing the current website through different methods that will help to detect the general usability issues.
Competitive Analysis
User Analysis
As a part of User Analysis, I conducted a Survey to understand what users prefer, how they want their Moving process to be, and, if they are filling to put extra efforts to calculate their cost on their own to get better cost estimates.
Ideation
The goal of the ideation is to provide a seamless experience while scheduling the move by getting a free moving quote and confirming the moving with Budget Movers. Based on the data collected during the User Analysis, below is the Affinity Diagram of “Why scheduling process is difficult in Budget Movers” and “What users expect when they plan to schedule a move”
Personas
Based on the majority of the users, their characters, goals, requirements and preference about their moving process, I created a Persona named Kevin.
Process Flow Diagram
Once any user opens a Moving website, he/she wants to have a clear idea of how the process is going to being with. It is needless to say we need to have the contact details displayed foe immediate contact information.
Keeping the contact information after entering the necessary details is a good practice because the users do not want to enter their information before understanding if this will help them.
Having multi step forms provide better experience, feedback of the process, number of steps and further process to be followed.
Interaction Sketches
Mock Ups and Prototype
Below is the interactive prototype of the Redesign.
Conclusions
Reflections of the users on the current website:
1. I am not sure if this website serves the area I live in.
2. I do not want to provide my contact information before filling out other details.
3. How will I know which fields are mandatory to submit this form?
4. I do not want to spend a lot of time just to get a free quote.
5. What happens after I submit this form?
6. I do not understand the details from this form.
Reflections of the users on the Redesign website:
1. Very interactive.
2. I like how the process is displayed on the home page.
3. I now have a better idea of the work flow, I know what the next step is.
4. I Like the ideas of the calendar and discounts.
5. Adding inventory list is easier here. Images are better than text boxes, I get a clearer idea of the size of any item. I Like the way + and – is added to the items to add them.
6. I would definitely use this website if I want to schedule a move.
